How to Find Your Perfect Jewellery Size

13/12/2025 | Dubai Jewellers

Getting the right size for your jewellery is important. Whether you're buying rings, chains, or bangles, a proper fit makes all the difference in comfort and appearance. Here's a straightforward guide to help you measure accurately before making your purchase.

Ring Sizing

Finding your ring size is simpler than you think. Here are the most reliable methods:

Method 1: Measure an Existing Ring If you have a ring that fits well, measure the inside diameter in millimeters. Match this measurement to the ring size chart below. This is the most accurate method if you already own rings.

Method 2: Measure Your Finger Take a piece of string or a thin strip of paper and wrap it around the base of your finger where you'll wear the ring. Mark where the string overlaps, then measure the length in millimeters. Divide this number by 3.14 to get the diameter, then check the chart.

Important Tips:

  • Measure your finger at the end of the day when it's slightly larger
  • If you're between sizes, go with the larger size
  • Consider the width of the ring - wider bands need a slightly larger size
  • Your fingers change size with temperature and time of day

Common Sizing Mistakes: Many customers estimate their ring size from memory or use sizes from years ago. Your finger size can change over time due to weight changes, temperature, or other factors. Always measure before ordering, especially for 22k gold pieces that may have resizing limitations.

Chain Sizing

Chain length affects how the piece sits on your neck. Here's how to choose:

For Women:

  • 16 inches: Sits at the collarbone, ideal for pendants
  • 18 inches: Rests just below the collarbone, most popular length
  • 20 inches: Falls a few inches below the collarbone
  • 24 inches: Sits at or below the bust line

For Men:

  • 18 inches: Fits at the base of the neck
  • 20 inches: Most common men's length, sits just below the collarbone
  • 22 inches: Hangs lower on the chest
  • 24 inches: Falls mid-chest

How to Measure: Use a measuring tape or string around your neck where you want the chain to sit. Add 2 inches for comfort if you prefer a looser fit. For layering multiple chains, vary the lengths by at least 2 inches between each piece.

Bangle Sizing

Bangles need to slip over your hand comfortably. Here's how to measure:

Method 1: Measure Your Hand Bring your thumb and pinky finger together (as if you're making a duck shadow puppet). Measure across the widest part of your hand in inches. This measurement corresponds to your bangle size.

Method 2: Measure an Existing Bangle Measure the inside diameter of a bangle that fits you well. Match this to the size chart.

Bangle Fit Guide:

  • Snug fit: Bangle diameter equals your hand measurement
  • Comfortable fit: Add 0.25 inches to your hand measurement
  • Loose fit: Add 0.5 inches to your hand measurement

Remember, bangles should slide over your hand with gentle effort but not feel tight on your wrist.

INDIAN BANGLE SIZE CHART
Bangle Size Diameter
Inches MM
2-0 2.00 51
2-2 2.12 54
2-4 2.25 57
2-6 2.38 60
2-8 2.50 64
2-10 2.63 67
2-12 2.75 70
2-14 2.88 73

Bracelet Sizing

Unlike bangles, bracelets have clasps and should fit your wrist directly.

How to Measure: Wrap a measuring tape or string around your wrist where you normally wear bracelets. Note the measurement, then add:

  • 0.5 inches for a snug fit
  • 1 inch for a comfortable fit
  • 1.5 inches for a loose fit

The standard bracelet size is 7 inches for women and 8 inches for men, but personal preference varies.

Why Accurate Sizing Matters

Getting your size right the first time saves you from unnecessary hassle. While we do offer resizing services at our store, not all pieces can be resized due to their design or the 22k gold construction. Additionally, exchanges come with restocking fees, so it's always better to measure carefully before purchasing.

Final Tips

  • Measure twice before ordering
  • Consider the time of day - fingers and wrists swell throughout the day
  • If buying a gift, try to borrow a piece of their jewellery to measure
  • Save your measurements for future purchases
  • When ordering online, please inform us during purchase if you need resizing so we can confirm if it's possible for that specific piece

Taking a few extra minutes to measure properly ensures you'll love wearing your jewellery from Dubai Jewellers for years to come.
